A packing list freebie

I am one lucky lady this week. I get to go on vacation....to Waterloo, Iowa. Vacation hot spot right?? Ha! But it is away from my house and I don't have to cook or make my own bed, so I'd say its still a win.
So because of said impending vacation you get a freebie. I know I could have just written my list on a piece of notebook paper, but this was way more fun.
Here are my lists in action:
I'm sure there will be more things frantically scribbled down before I actually get my packing done...tonight. Which is a little late for my preferences but I've been a busy gal. I did color coordinate my list with my favorite papermate flair markers.
purple is for bathroom type supplies
blue is for clothing
green is for electronics
pink is for snacks
light purple is my list of things that need to be purchased or done

And here's the freebie for you. In case any of you get to go on super cool vacations too!
Although it could be used for a move too, since I kept the label generic.
Also, since I will be "vacationing" I will be leaving the blog completely in Niki's hands. So look forward to a post from her tomorrow and she will be wrapping up our weekly wardrobe on Friday too.

can you sense the theme in my recent printables? I'm way into borders, bright colors, arrows, and chevron!

moving madness {part five}

First of all, look at this beauty that has taken up residence in my apartment. *sigh* can you hear the angels singing?? because I sure can!!! These are the style of washer and dryer my sister has and she loves them. Yeah, I know my apartment building has coin operated laundry, but that is a pain in the butt and creeps me out a little. So we scored a free dryer, from my sisters in-laws and bought the washer. But with a free dyer, the expense wasn't quite as bad. It makes me a little crazy that they don't match, but at least they are the same brand and color. I couldn't justify buying a matching dryer since we had one that was free and worked perfectly fine.

"the pantry closet", it has a nice ring to it doesn't it? Okay, maybe not but still sounds a little bit delightful right?
We have this random closet off of the kitchen, next to the door to the hallway.

That door right there....

Here's what it looked like right after I filled it up. I used the grey shelving that was previously residing in our closet and the teal shelving I scored at Menards during our back to school sale.

The former home of our grey shelving. I am all for reusing and a $0 budget.

Starting on the left side of the closet with the grey shelving. This shelving unit holds most of our food. We have one food cupboard in the kitchen and everything else is stored in here.
I debated what type of labeling and organizing I was going to use in this closet. I know this is not a permanent living situation, so I didn't want to waste a ton of time and ink on creating labels. So I decided to go with some labels I had gotten from I think Better Homes and Gardens website. I had already laminated them, so I just cut them out and labeled them with a wet erase marker. They look cute, but are easily changed and reused.

I went with three sections on each shelf. I wish I could have had baskets for each section, but that was not in the budget. So this works. Not my idea situation, but it works. As long as I keep it organized it should work okay.

The second shelf:

Remember these baskets? They are reused from our bedroom, on our coffee table. (I talked about that organization project here). They found a new home in our closet.

And the third shelf:
All of the quick snack foods go in this basket.

Ya know, healthy snacks like Ramen noodles, pudding, and spaghetti o's.

Canned goods have their place on the shelf as well....nothing too exciting here. They are simply separated into like items.

The bottom shelf holds mainly extra things. Bottled water, canisters, and my cocoa mix.

Hot cocoa supplies, this is perhaps the most important part. I love hot cocoa. Probably because I am so freakishly cold all the time. As of now, I am wearing three layers to school. Yep, its August and I'm wearing three long sleeve layers. Its nice outside, but I swear they keep it about 52 in here!

The other side of the closet holds my cleaning supplies and other extra household items

The teal shelving also holds our lunch boxes.....not all are used everyday so they are out of the way, yet  easily accessible.

 There is also some extra pop, adult beverages, and vitamins and protein powders stored in this shelving unit.
The bottom shelf stores the cold bags for groceries. We may not use these as often now since we live in the same town as our grocery store.

So there is it is....the pantry closet. I wish I could have some of the lovely pantries that I find on pinterest. But maybe someday? Check out my kitchen pin board for some of my inspiration.
have your own pantry organization? share it with us!!
have a great day everyone!

Moving madness {part three}

So here it is, the new apartment. I know its nothing fancy, but its enough for us. Here's the kitchen, sorry I had already brought in a few boxes before I thought to snap some pictures.

There's a closet door behind the actual door...
The other side of the kitchen

And the dining area, which is open to the kitchen and living room. I was excited to have a decent light fixture!

Next is the living room:
Just an empty room....patio doors out to our small patio space.

And our tiny bathroom.  But at least it has a small closet (on the left of the photo but you can't see it)

The first bedroom

The second bedroom

And last is the small laundry area. Having my own laundry area was a big deal to me. I hate to share a washer and dryer with other people. Too weird for me.

So there it is, our humble new apartment. I can't wait to decorate and organize and keep you all updated of my progress!

Moving madness {part two}

The madness continues!  I have been packing like crazy! Here's what I have so far:

{please excuse the poor lighting}

I just wasn't sure what a good place to stash packed boxes....so in the dining room they went. Who needs to eat right? and remember my "Tuesday" list. I regret to inform you that it isn't complete yet.
but I am making progress.

The colored x's are way better than regular x's.

The other thing I have been working on is my "apartment notebook"
I just used a composition book and covered it in scrapbook paper and coated it with mod podge. After the mod podge was dry, I covered it with a clear acrylic sealer. Easy peasy.

On the inside I popped in a quick pocket to store receipts for things I have purchased for the move or the new apartment.

Not much in there so far...

Then on the first page is the key for my color coded labels. Nothing too complicated.

Then on the following pages are the box contents. Each room gets a page. Then I just have the contents of each box listed by number. All the boxes have a number or some sort of identifier.

And another pocket on the back cover :

I know its nothing fancy, but I'm hoping that it will help make the moving and unpacking process go more smoothly. Especially since my family {who are all super excited to help me move} won't have to ask where each box should go since they are all nicely labeled. And the contents will help me know which boxes to unpack first.

I'm hoping to be packed and ready before moving day so I can spend my last days searching pinterest for wonderful ideas for the new apartment.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Also, I will post the different options for moving labels that I made sometime. They are on another computer {because doesn't everyone have three different computers?} and its not very easily accessible right now.

Don't forget about our Etsy Sale. Use the coupon code JULYSALE at the checkout to save 20% off your entire order!! Check out our store today because the sale ends on Moving Day (August 1)
